Occasional Essays

The Forum features occasional essays of varying length and on a wide variety of topics as a means of informing and stimulating discussion and debate. SCT would like to hear from authors who may be interested in featuring their ideas here.

The first, Open to Debate: The Speakers’ Corner Experience – Public Space & Public Sphere in the 21st Century, written by a team of academics at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design and published in May 2010, explores the relationship between public space and the public realm  and asks whether there should be a duty on local authorities to provide space for citizenship.

The second, by Dr John Roberts of Brunel University chronicles and analyses The Development of Free Speech in Modern Britain was published in March 2011.
