Stella is one of the founding committee members of Speakers’ Corner Croydon (SCC). From its inception she has undertaken an active role in coordinating and promoting SCC activities, which have included organising Croydon’s very first People’s Hustings in 2015 and coordinating events to develop public speaking and debating skills in young people.
Stella has an extensive background in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and project coordination. As Business Partnership Manager at CSR organisation Croydon Commitment, she worked with businesses, local government and Croydon’s charity sector to address a broad range of social, educational and environmental issues by facilitating business-to-community partnerships and delivering bespoke volunteering programmes.
As a voluntary Resident Commissioner on the Croydon Opportunity and Fairness Commission between 2015-16, Stella conducted a comprehensive research project, alongside 12 other commissioners, aimed at identifying key socio-economic issues in the Borough of Croydon and potential sustainable, cross-sector partnership solutions. The recommendations can be found in the ‘A Better Croydon’ report here.
In 2015, Stella founded the annual We Are Superwoman conference which celebrates role-models of colour, facilitates conversation on current affairs and serves to provide women with the platform and tools for professional and personal development.
In 2016 Stella was awarded the Mayor of Croydon Civic Award for ‘Young Achiever of the Year’.
